How Split Pay Works: Upgrades & Guest Travel

A detailed guide on how AllFly allows companies and business travelers to split the cost of an airline ticket or upgrade

Split Pay is one of AllFly’s most popular features because it bridges the gap between company budgets and traveler comfort.

Instead of a reservation being blocked or sent through a long manual approval process, Split Pay allows you to book your trip instantly.

Why Companies Use Split Pay

  • Zero Budget Overages: It ensures that specific events or departments cannot go over their allocated budget.

  • Total Flexibility: Travelers have the freedom to upgrade their cabin class or seat and pay the difference on their own card.

  • Saves Productive Time: It stops hundreds of reservations from being sent for manual admin approval, saving significant time for larger travel programs.

4 Ways to Use Split Pay

1. Covering a Budget Overage

If you find a flight that is in the correct cabin class (e.g., Economy) but the price exceeds your company’s maximum allowed budget, you can still book it.

  • Example: Your budget is $600, but the flight you want is $717.

  • The Split: AllFly charges your company $600, and you pay the remaining $117 at checkout.

2. Upgrading Your Cabin Class

If your policy only covers Economy but you prefer Premium Economy or First Class, you can pay to bridge that gap.

  • The Split: The company is billed for the highest "in-policy" fare (e.g., the $416 Economy price), and you pay the difference for the upgraded ticket at checkout.

3. Purchasing Preferred Seats

Airlines often charge for "preferred" seats with extra legroom or better locations.

  • Company Settings: This is a customizable setting within Quest. Companies can elect to pay for these seats or treat them as traveler-funded upgrades.

  • The Split: If treated as an upgrade, the company pays the base fare, and the specific seat upgrade fee is charged to your personal card at checkout.

4. Booking for a Guest

When traveling for an event where guests are welcome but not company-funded, you can book both tickets together.

  • The Split: Add your guest’s details to your reservation; at checkout, the guest’s full fare is separated and charged to your personal card.

Important Requirements & Checkout

Availability

Split Pay is only available for Quest Workspaces paying via Wallet. This feature is unavailable if your company pays using:

  • A Master Credit Card (a single card billed for all flights).

  • Individual Credit Cards.

Completing Your Booking

When you reach the Checkout page in Quest, the system will identify the "Split" portion of your fare.

  1. Review the Breakdown: Check the "Company" vs. "Traveler" costs.

  2. Payment: Enter your personal credit card information for the upgrade or overage.

  3. Confirm: Your reservation will be ticketed instantly.
